about

US

Our mission is simple: Ensure our youth, regardless of systematic barriers and underprivileged backgrounds, have the adequate access needed in life to become successful. We believe in building a foundation for youth and giving them a solid rock to stand upon. We achieve this through intentional initiatives such as afterschool programming, performing arts, sports, family events, and supporting justice-involved youth. We believe that building a strong connection with each youth will be a difference maker for each life.

  • At Rocklife, we focus on holistic growth by helping youth develop their social and emotional skills for long-term success. Through mentorship, creative arts, and sports, we provide opportunities for self-discovery, resilience, and personal growth. Our goal is to empower young people to build strong relationships, make positive decisions, and thrive in their communities.

  • At Rocklife, we use justice-involved mentorship to empower youth by addressing childhood trauma and combining guidance, performing arts, life skills, and academic support into a growth-focused program. Mentors provide accountability and encouragement while helping youth navigate the emotional challenges stemming from past trauma. Performing arts like dance, theater, and music serve as powerful outlets for healing, confidence-building, and emotional expression. Our growth track prepares them for employment, education, or entrepreneurship through career exploration, financial literacy, and goal setting. Life skills workshops equip participants with practical tools for communication, conflict resolution, and time management. To ensure success, we offer academic support through tutoring and graduation planning, helping each youth stay on track to achieve their goals and thrive in their communities.

  • At Rocklife’s ERA (Expression through Recreation and Arts) program, we leverage the transformative power of performing arts and athletics to inspire underserved and justice-involved youth. Studies show that participation in performing arts can improve academic performance by up to 15% and reduce dropout rates, while also enhancing emotional resilience, creativity, and teamwork skills. Through dance, theater, music, and recreation, ERA creates a safe space for youth to explore their talents, build confidence, and heal from past trauma. Our program combines these creative and recreational outlets with mentorship, life skills training, and academic support, ensuring every participant has a path to graduation and future success. By nurturing both artistic expression and personal growth, ERA empowers youth to unlock their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities.

OUR PROGRAM PILLARS

Rocklife Youth was fortunate to be apart of a Nashville After Zone Alliance (NAZA)cohort in 2022 and incorporate vision for how our youth learn and grow within our program. Others involved in creating this vision were Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, Nashville Public Library, Mayor’s Youth Council, Youth In Action!, and over 200 community stakeholders. In each of Rocklife Youth’s programming our organization seeks to produce a holistic growth environment in all of our youth.
